    Outline Numbering format (2003)

When creating an outline numbering scheme is there a way to have the number format be one font and the text another font.

Example. 1. (arial) <tab character> Description (arial bold underline).

To complicate things further, I have to follow with a style separator!

Yes: first set the font characteristics for the style; then select Format | Bullets and Numbering, click Customize..., then click Font... and specify the font characteristics for the number.

    Re: Outline Numbering format (2007)

For those working in Word 2007, follow these steps:

    1. Select the bullet number in the list. (In a multi-level list, select the number of that level)
    2. On the HOME ribbon, click on the arrow next to the bullet/numbering button and choose, Define New Number Format.
    3. In the resulting dialog, select your choices or click on the Font button to change the font format for the bullet. The bullet colour can also be adjusted.
