    Where is Windows Movie Maker

I have Windows XP SP 2 installed but can not find Widows Movie Maker. All my Windows updates are current. Apparently Movie Maker came with SP2 but I can not find it. I have a new Dell laptop. Movie Maker is on the new laptop.

I looked at this page but there is no download link that I can find. It says to turn on Automatic Updates, which I have had turned on for a long time, or download SP2, which I already have installed.

I apologize, I should have checked the page I referred to.

Are you sure that Windows Movie Maker hasn't been installed? It's normally found in C:Program FilesMovie Maker (the program itself is moviemk.exe).

Re: Where is Windows Movie Maker

You are correct in was in C:Program FilesMovie Maker. Now how do I add a shortcut for moviemk.exe in All Programs that appears on the Start menu?

Re: Where is Windows Movie Maker

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:Program FilesMovie Maker.
Drag moviemk.exe to the Start button.
Holding down the mouse button, wait until the Start menu pops up.
Move the mouse pointer to All Programs and (still holding down the mouse button) wait until the programs menu appears.
Move the mouse pointer to where you want to place the shortcut, then release the mouse button.
The new menu item will be named "Shortcut to moviemk".
Right-click the item and select Rename from the popup menu.
Type the name you want to see in the menu, e.g. "Windows Movie Maker" (without the quotes), then click OK.
If you dropped the shortcut in the wrong place, you can still drag it to where you want it.

You can follow Hans instructions or you can right click on the file moviemk.exe and select Pin To Start Menu from the drop down menu.

    Saves a few steps. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
