    If I am not mistaken apart from a Hans's learned answer, it looks very much like a very out of focus moth scale showing variances in the polarised light

    Interesting and very educated guess, but its a different type of species altogether. (I'm done with moth's now!) Another clue is that there is no specialised light used in the pic as Jezza elegantly suggested.

    This, to me, looks like the edge of the fins of a Clownfish (also known as the Anemonefish). Possibly of the Caudal and Anal fins.

    Yes! Except that it was of the Pectoral and Anal fins! That should qualify for at least a half-choccy bar!
