    Standard and Formatting Default (2003)

I use Word as my email editor. I would like the standard and formatting view to be the way my emails are opened up. I know how to go in and do this on individual emails; however, I would like them to open up this way w/o having to select on each individual email.

    Can anyone advise?

What exactly do you mean by "the standard and formatting view"?

Re: Standard and Formatting Default (2003)

Hans, if i I right click in the upper toolbar (guess that is what it is called) I have an option list that comes up. Standard and Formatting are options that I use. They provide me with Bold, Right Justify, Bullets, etc. that I do on a regular basis. I'd like Outlook to open up this way instead of having to do it on an email by email basis...

I hope this answers your question.

By the way, Happy New Year.

OK, so you meant the Standard and Formatting toolbars instead of Standard and Formatting view. I don't use Word as e-mail editor, so I don't know how it works. Hopefully someone who does use Word as e-mail editor can help you.

See if The position of a new toolbar may not be retained in new e-mail messages in Outlook 2003 helps. You want to do

Part 1: Create a New Custom Toolbar
    1. In Outlook, click New to open Word as the e-mail editor.
    2. Click a blank space in the body of the e-mail message window.
    3. On the Tools menu, click Customize.

Then select and deselect the toolbars you want. Close the dialog box. Close the new message.

This survived a shutdown and restart of Outlook in a quick test. I made sure Word was not running. I did not check after a re-boot.
