Lounge link opens appl, not in window.

    Hi,

Has anyone noticed this changed link behavioue:
When I click a link to an attached Excel WB and choose OPEN (not SAVE), it opens the actual Excel application, where it used to open the Excel Appl within a floating browser window. Once I close Excel, all that remains is an entirely black floating browser window which I close off after.

Is this change due to Office 2007? (XML based)
This is of no concern, I am just asking out of curiosity as it never used to work this way?!

    TX
    Regards,
    Rudi

It's not specific to Office 2007.
If you have "Confirm open after download" ticked for a file type (extension), you get a choice between "Open" and "Save". The dialog is opened from a new browser window or tab.
What happens if you select "Open" depends on whether "Browse in same window" is ticked.
If so, the attachment will open in the browser window or tab. Otherwise, the attachment will be opened in its application, and the browser window or tab will remain open.
This behavior (i.e. the browser window or tab remaining open) has existed for at least a year; I think it had to do with a small change in the Lounge code for security reasons.

    Hi,

I'd like to confirm my settings but am unsure where the dialog command is to activate the dialog you represent in your reply.

    In Windows XP or earlier:
    - Open Windows Explorer.
    - Select Tools | Folder Options...
    - Activate the File Types tab.
    - Select an extension in the list (you can use the mouse or type the extension)
    - Click Advanced... (in Windows 2000, XP and 2003) or Edit... (in Windows 95, 98, ME and NT4)

In Windows Vista, the File Types tab has disappeared. You need to edit the Windows Registry to change the advanced properties. (That's progress for you...)

Hmm, I'll rather not dabble in the registry at this early hour!
    TX for the reply.
