Copying Object from a Slide (XP)

I am having a challenge copying objects from a slide in File_01 and pasting to another slide in File_02.

I would have thought that it was as simple as highlighting the object, right click and select copy and then proceed to File_02. Select the appropriate slide then right click/paste.

    Am I missing something? <img src=/S/confused3.gif border=0 alt=confused3 width=45 height=45>

Yes, it does work like that for me (PowerPoint 2002 SP3). What kind of object are you trying to copy/paste?

With a text box, make sure that you have selected the text box (by right-clicking on its border) and not its contents. For a picture it shouldn't matter where you right-click it.

What exactly is the problem you're having?

    Hans,

I have right clicked on the border of the text box and tried copying/pasting it but nothing is being picked up in the clipboard. When I try to paste the object, I get the last object added to the clipboard which is not what I expect to be there.

The PPT file was opened in "read-only" mode. This should not make a difference.

    Regards,
    John

Re: Copying Object from a Slide (XP)

    Hans,

I tried it with a PPT file that was not opened in "read-only" and it works. I would have thought that since I was not making any changes to the "read-only" file I would have been able to copy objects.

    Thanks for your assistance,
    John

If I open a presentation as read-only I cannot select any object on a slide, so I cannot copy objects either. You'll have to open the presentation in edit mode.
