    All users-desktop icons (Vista)

    How do I setup Vista so I can have all users who login get the same set of icons on their desktops. I can't figure out what to look up to get an answer.

    Thanks.

    The "Allusers" desktop will do what you want.
    All you need to do is move all of the icons to this desktop.

    Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Put all shortcuts which you want to appear on the desktop of any user account to
    C:UsersPublicDesktop
    folder. You can move the shortcuts to all users desktop from each
    C:Users < username >Desktop

    In the public folder there is no desktop folder. When I try to create one Vista tells me there already is one. I can't figure out how to make it visible so I can see it to put icons into it.

    Thanks again

    1. Click Windows logo in the lower left corner of your screen, then click Control Panel on the right pane.
    2. Control Panel window will appear. Click Classic View link on the left pane.
    3. On the right pane applet icons will appear. Double-click Folder Options icon.
    4. Folder Options window will appear. Click View tab on the top.
    5. Then in Advanced Settings window:
    - under "Hidden files and folders" select "Show hidden files and folders" (if not already selected);
    - uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types" (if not already unchecked);
    - uncheck "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)". Confirm your choice.
    6. Click Apply, OK and close Control Panel window.

    Thanks.

    That's what I was looking for. I knew how to do it in WinXP but I could not find the option in Vista.
