idea for the Lounge

I think this is far the best forum; people on here are very helpful, credit to everyone.
It would be good if there was a section just for apple Mac. I use both PC and Mac. When it comes to MAC help there is not a forum like this one. I know you can post in 'other', but it could increase the popularity and move in to another area.

Just an idea.

Re: idea for the Lounge

Appended to fulhamn's question, could I ask if GOS is the best place to post questions about OneNote and InfoPath? I see you have updated FrontPage to include Expression Web for 2007, are there future plans to seperate the above mentioned applications from the generalized GOS forum?

Re: idea for the Lounge- MAC forum

The main issue is whether or not there is not enough support for MAC users within the Lounge regular contributors. We have a very good 'team' of experts in PC-based systems, but I'm not so sure the same could be said about MACs.

I'm also not so sure it would guarantee popularity if we created a forum for MAC issues that remained largely unresolved - it may even have the opposite effect if visitors saw an inability for us to provide or point to solutions!

Having said that, we are always open to suggestions, but I think we'd prefer to see an increase in questions and good answers before launching a new forum. Please feel free to ask away in the Other OSes forum meantime and we'll monitor how it goes.

Thanks for the compliment - we're always glad to receive those! - but I believe at the moment we'd rather stick to what we know we're good at than venture into being a jack of all operating systems

Nope

(Not at the moment, anyway.)

Re: idea for the Lounge

The Lounge is already so popular that the database is very large and we get so many users logged on that we have response time problems. We also, AFAIK, have only one regular contributor that uses a MAC, therefore we do not currently have enough expertise to support MACs like we support PCs. If MAC users want something like the Lounge, I think they would be better served to get together and start another forum dedicated to the MAC. I don't think it would serve either user base very well to have a lot of additional users logged on and creating response time problems, posting questions that do not get answered.

Re: idea for the Lounge

If memory serves (some times it doesn't) there have been Forums in the past that had very low volume, and were folded back into a similar Forum. (Perhaps Money/Quicken/Personal Finance, or maybe it was discussed but never made it.)

On the other hand, many years back <!post=I whined,14765>I whined<!/post> about needing a Virus Forum, and was denied, but a couple years late the Powers That Be <!post=relented,180655>relented<!/post>, and now Spyware - AntiVirus - Safe Computing is pretty busy.

So if you want a OneNote board, you need to get ALL of your OneNote "Buddies" start asking questions!
