    Re: Task manager (Windows xp)

How do you start the backup utility using TaskManager? Is it a batch file?
Is it something that can be run from the "Run" dialogue box as well? It may be simply a matter of adding a shortcut to the application/batch file to your Startup folder.

Task Scheduler. Sorry. I know enough to be dangerous.

I remember batch files from DOS, but really wouldn't know how to create or use one in windows.
    Thanks

OK - can you let us know the exact instruction as entered into the scheduler?
i.e. is it a program file with any switches to make it run once then quit?

If you create a shortcut on your desktop and enter the instruction into that, does the program run as required when you double-click it?? If so, try dragging the shortcut into your Startup folder (under Programs in your Start Menu) and see if it works.

    Task scheduler (Windows xp)

Subject edited by HansV to aid in future searches - changed Task manager to Task scheduler.

I use the task manager to run a backup utility for my Access databases each day. I would like the utility to run when I logon rather than an appointed time. Is there a way to do that?
    Thanks

I can't believe I did not think of a shortcut in the Startup folder. That works beautifully.

I use an Access database with an Autoexe macro to run the copy and compact procedure.
    Thanks
