Trojan I can't get rid of

    Hi all,

I am hoping that someone out there can help, because I'm not having much luck...I ran Trend HouseCall a couple of days ago as my laptop has been playing up, has popup adware and I havea program I use opening itself whenever it feels like it. HouseCall got rid of all the adware etc, but it says there is a trojan that it can't clean and can't delete... TROJ_DLOADER.LL Has anyone managed to find a fix for this one? I could only find 3 hits on google when I looked for it and none was of much use. I also can't get to much on the net since about 2weeks ago, I keep being redirected to some random search engine type site I'd never heard of. It's rather annoying to say the least. I'm planning a holiday and need to get back online. (I'm on my work PC at the moment <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15> )

    Thanks in advance...

    Bella

    Bella,
Are you sure you have the spelling correct for this item?
A search of BOTH Trend Micro and Symantec lists of virus and trojans did not show any results.

You can use AutoRuns for Windows to see what is starting up and disable startup entries.

I've checked the spelling, I emailed it to myself...it is right. This is all I can find on it...The 2 first links might be useful by I can't get to them, the 'puter keeps dodging it and sending me to the stupid new search engine site that I don't want to go to. I've check and it's spelt right...The only thing I can find about it I have attached. I can't get to the websites, it's like the troj is blocking me and sending me to the crap search engine every time I try to get rid of it.

It is listed on this page which infers it was around in 2005. I would imagine most current and up-to-date AV software should be able to handle it.

What AV software are you currently running? If none, then don't expect too much sympathy! I would immediately download a free trial of one of the big names, such as Kaspersky or ZoneAlarm Pro, or get round to your local PC store and pick up something pronto!

I run McAfee, which we run at work (a large Govt Department), and I've run HouseCall as well in addition to the McAfee, but to no avail. It's really quite frustrating... Can you recommend any better AV software?

'Better' is too subjective for me to answer - as a rule if something works for you, stick with it. You'll find plenty of people with their own preferences but finding the 'best' is not easy!

Is McAfee detecting this Trojan? If not, there is always the possibility that it is a false-positive from HouseCall.

I would start with Starposts <!post=Tutorials & Links to Detection & Removal Tools,385669>Tutorials & Links to Detection & Removal Tools<!/post> and <!post=Anti Adware-Spyware-Hijack, 296439>Anti Adware-Spyware-Hijack<!/post> for some ideas on how to get cleaned up.

    Hi

I think you should try this remedy:

    WORM_DASHER.H Solution.

There are patches available lower in the page.

You mention Government Department, I am not sure which part of the world you come from but I know some Gov departments in the UK lock down desktops so tight you couldn't get a cigarette paper between the edges. This maybe why you cannot get rid of the infecred file. I suggest you get the IT to go in as Administrator to run a full scan
