Word 2007 (When opening a file - look for or search for gone)

    Hi

When I click on file open in word 2007, the open box appears the search for or the look in box has disappeared. It usually was in the bottom right had corner (Screen dump). This function enabled me to search for documents quickly within a folder. I have played around with the viewing options without any joy.

    Please can you help?

The Look in dropdown is at the top, where it has always been...

My staff member said that there was a box near the open and cancel button, which is a search feature. You could type stuff and it would search all the file names. It's not the looking feature.

    Regards

Search from the Open dialog has been removed in Office 2007. Microsoft expects users to use the search feature built into Windows (much enhanced in Windows Vista) or a desktop search engine.

No not installed, I have just spoken to her, she insists that in word 07- open there is a search feature. I'm not sure what she means and tried it on my machine.

Did she perhaps happen to see Word 2007 on Windows Vista? There is a search box in the Vista version of the Open dialog (this search box is provided by Vista, not by Word)

Just showed her the image it was on another system, she was not making it clear to me. I was pulling my hair out because you can't with xp with 2007.

Thanks for your help and time .
