    Re: Two 'basic' discoveries (IE7)

Those 2 tips work exactly the same way in Firefox.

You can also use middle-click to open a new tab.

See the built-in help for IE7, subject Working with Tabs, or Internet Explorer: Quick Reference Guide

    Re: Two 'basic' discoveries (IE7)

Here is an extensive list of shortcut keys for:

    IE7: http://www.testingreflections.com/node/view/3466
    and
FireFox: http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/keyboard This link actually compares key combos between FF, IE and Opera

If you do a quick squizz through the list you may just pick up one or two very useful ones!

These Mouse Gestures are great!!! You just right-click and draw symbols on the page to close, refresh, navigate. VERY COOL!!

PS: There are some other very interesting features...

    Re: Two 'basic' discoveries (IE7)

Interesting stuff, thanks Rudi. I have one question and it is really because of my interest in HTML. I note sometimes that if I am using a page that has java applets, or more commonly, Google Maps which uses an API if this Mouse Gestures works, I have a feeling it won't but I would like to be proved wrong.

I would do this myself but I have to use IE 6 on this laptop for work reasons!

    Re: Two 'basic' discoveries (IE7)

Give me a link to a page that you would like me to test Gestures on to see if it works. I will test it for you and let you know. I ask you to send a page link as I am not 100% sure what applets or google maps you are refering to.

    Re: Two 'basic' discoveries (IE7)

In spite of its name, IE7Pro also works with IE6.

Mouse Gestures are typically used to do things like scrolling pages, closing tabs, go backwards and forwards through history. They do not work within applications like Google Maps.

Cool, thanks Tony, as I expected.

Rudi, thanks for the offer, I think Tony has covered this.

    Interesting IE Discoveries (IE7)

<P ID="edit" class=small>(Edited by Rudi on 12-Jan-08 22:20. Renamed the Title to better describe the content of the thread)</P>This may be VERY basic info for the regular browser, but I discovered two useful key combo's (at least for my own personal use). Sharing it may just be informative to others too.

    1. SHIFT + Click a hyperlink opens a link in a new window...(this I knew (hee hee...I do know something!!)), BUT, CTRL + Click a hyperlink opens a link in a new TAB.
    2. I was typing a reply and accidently deleted the text I typed. I took a chance and pressed CTRL + Z. To my surprize it actually "UNDID" the accidental delete. <img src=/S/joy.gif border=0 alt=joy width=23 height=23>

Maybe to make this thread more useful, if anyone can share any other useful key combinations to control IE, (or for that matter FireFox)?!
    Regards,
    Rudi
