    Asc Function (2003 SP2)

    I don't really understand this function all that well, but I've been asked to look at a DB that has this funtion in a query.

    This is what's in the query
    Prod Week: Chr(Asc("J")+(Year(Now())-2000)) & Format(Now(),"ww")

    & gives (currently) R3.

    Now the week number bit is fine, but not the Asc bit. Can somebody explain what's meant to be happening please?

    TIA

    Hi this is from the help of ASC.

    MyNumber = Asc("A") ' Returns 65.
    "A" is hex 41 which is equivalent to decimal 65.
    "J" is hex 4A which is equivalent to decimal 74.
