Display too Small

Edited by Phil Rabichow on 09-Aug-01 19:36.
I'm not sure what I did. All I did was change the display to start with controls, rather than the main index. Now my style sheet is beige, instead of bright alternating colors and the print is so tiny I can't see what I'm typing. How can I change back?

OK for the colors. Got them back. But large is still way too small. There must be someone else whose vision isn't eagle like.

Can you remember what skin you were using before?
    What resolution are you using?

Aaargh. I just went back to Controls and saw there is an Old Style XL. I could have sworn it wasn't there yesterday. Honest. Everything is back the way I like it!!

Heck, that IS big - no wonder you didn't like regular Oldstyle.

Oldstyle (XL) is really hideous. Why don't you change to a lower resolution?

    Re: Display too Small

Well, I have things set up so that I can usually see OK for most web sites, emails, or applications. At work I have a lower resolution. I have tons of icons on my desktop that wouldn't fit if I were at a lower resolution. Now if I only had the time to organize my desktop....

I clutter my desktop too. Periodically I sweep them all into a folder called 'Desktop Junk'.

I really need to sit down for a week a shut out the world...like that's really gonna happen.

I blame it on these huge drives we have these days. I remember paying an arm and a leg for a whopping 10MB drive and being VERY careful what I stored...

    Re: Display too Small

I agree. I just went out &, for about $360, bought a firewire card, a firewire case, & two 30GB external hard drives. I use them mostly for backup and they work great. But...you can sure get sloppy with saving things. If I didn't have Wilbur (from www.redtree.com that's posted over in software finds), I wouldn't be able to find anything.

    Re: Display too Small

I wouldn't have anything on my desktop if I could figure out how to get rid of MyComputer and Trash. But boy howdy is my favorite file full of junk. And since I figured out how to copy into WordPad and save as a doc that directory piling up. Being able to give more descriptive names helps. Remember how confusing the old six letter names were? Anyway I still find myself abbreviating to six letters a lot.

    Hi
Not sure you can get rid of MC, but to remove the trash bin from your Desktop, use TweakUI. (Should be on your Windows disk; if not, it's at #3 on my web site).

    Annoyances.org has a solution.

    Re: Display too Small

Ok. This is how to get rid of the MC icon. RClick a spare part of your desktop and choose Properties/Effects. Highlight the MC icon and choose Change Icon. Browse to C:WindowsIconsExplorer.exe (or maybe just to C:WindowsExplorer.exe). The second in the list is a blank icon, not just a space. Annoyances.org is wrong in this respect. Choose it. Your MC will still be there (if you know where you last put it!) but it will be invisible.
