Page breaks on multiple sheets (2007)

Hi all,

I noticed today that one cannot insert/delete page breaks across multiple sheets. All other page setup can be performed, but not page breaks. Is there some secret to doing this or must one resort to a macro.
TX

Are you sure? In Excel 2002 it works OK (select a group of sheets, select a row, column or cell, then select Insert | Page Break).

OK. That must have been a bug. On the PC at work, I was shown that it did not work. I stood there looking over the guys shoulder as he attempted to do this and it did not work. Now that you tell me this Hans, I set up a simple sheet and tried it and ... It works!!!

Sorry for that! I really don't know why the PC at work did not do this! His claim seemed legitimate!

I don't know if this is the issue and I can't check 2007, but you will not add page breaks in XL2002 on the sheets that are set to "Fit to". The "Adjust to" must be set.

If after grouping and setting the page break, you change from "fit" to Adjust" the page break will then be added where it was set...

I'd test it on his PC tomorrow. There are no reports of problems with this in the newsgroups; if this feature had been broken in Excel 2007 it would surely have been mentioned by now.

Steve, you hit the nail on the head...

I know for a fact that "Fit To" was in use! TX for that solution!!

TX Hans...

I tried this on 2007 just now on my PC. It went through. Today, I know the person was using Fit To!

Re: Page breaks on multiple sheets (2007)

"Fit to" and pagebreaks are mutually exclusive tasks: only one method can be used. XL presumes that if you want to fit the page, you are telling it to set the page breaks otherwise it can not "Fit to"

But as I noted, it does remember where the manual page breaks are located. It essentially ignores them so they do not display when "fitting".
