    A-Z style phone book (2003 SP2)

    Good evening

Does anybody have an example of an interactive type address/phone book that I could plagarise and play with? I keep making a start and then am never happy with the look, functionality or feel of it so I would like to see how other people might approach it rather than just having a bland 1 page sheet with column headings

    Cheers

I do not have an example of one, but I did find some interesting code to assist in developing one.

    See here : http://www.mrexcel.com/archive2/66000/76514.htm

(Edited by HansV to make URL clickable - see <!help=19>Help 19<!/help>)

Another approach can be found http://www.contextures.com. Click on Files and then Filters. Look for FL0005 Phone List for Selected Names. This lets you enter a last name and all those with the last name will appear on the screen. I blieve that there is another example at the same site (can't find) that lets you enter just an initial and a drop down appears with all contacts beginning with that initial. If I find it I will post again.

At the contexture site take a look under filters for FL0013 Create New Sheets from Filtered List. This might give you some ideas as well..

    Thanks Rudi

I do visit this site from time to time and I have seen this but could not implement it, to tell the truth I am so late to all things office that I find the only way to learn something new is to try and dissect examples and thenpost questions on what I do not understand.

Thanks for your advice and pointer

    Thanks for the pointer

I like this site a lot and have used it in the pass to even post links here for other people, I had not thought of a filterered list so had not looked too far in there, I will go and have a play

I noticed that FL0005 stated that it was only for Excel 2000 and 2002. Did you happen to try it with 2003, which is the version noted here? I liked the description to want to download it but I'm on 2003 also.
