Auto delete old sent emails (2003)

Hello,

Is there a convenient way to automatically delete emails in Sent folder that are over 30 days old?

Thanks,

Dr. Andy

Hi Dr. Andy,

Have a look at these two links. They should help to get it set up.

You need to be registered on SearchExchange.com to read the second solution...

You can use AutoArchive for this. You can turn on AutoArchive:
- Select Tools | Options...
- Activate the Other tab.
- Click AutoArchive.
- Specify the general settings here.

If desired, you can specify custom settings for the Sent Items (or any other) folder:
- Right-click the folder.
- Select Properties.
- Activate the AutoArchive tab.
- Click 'Archive this folder using these settings'.
- Specify the custom settings.

See for example Archive/backup your folders.

I am not registered either, but I thought the paragraph might help on the login page:

Question - How do I create a rule that will automatically delete all messages in a Microsoft Outlook Sent Items folder that are older than 30 days?
Answer - If you are looking to implement the solution from the workstation, then do the following at the workstation: Open Microsoft Outlook. Right-click the Sent Items folder and select Properties. Select the AutoArchive tab. Click the radio button for "Archive This Folder Using These Settings." Set the value of "Clean Out Items Older Than" to 30 days. Click the radio ...

Gentlemen:

Since we do not use Exchange, the AutoArchive approach appears very convenient.

Thank you,

Dr. Andy
