Keyboard shortcuts (MS Office 2003 SP3)

Is there a keyboard shortcut or other way to change text case in Outlook's text editor like SHIFT+F3 does when using Word as the editor?

Not unless you use Word as editor. You could code it, but it will apply to all message body text.

    Welcome to Woody's Lounge!

Unfortunately, there is no keyboard shortcut to toggle case in the Outlook editor, as far as I know.

Wow! FAST response! I love it!

I have received newsletters for a few years but not taken time to take advantage of the Lounge.

As for Outlook editor vs. using Word, sometime long ago I believe that using Word was discouraged as it was slower, more clunky, whatever. Any reasons anyone here can think of not to use Word for message editing?

Many of us here still prefer to use the built-in Outlook editor rather than Word, for those and other reasons. However, In Outlook 2007, Word is the ONLY editor. (I haven't upgraded yet. )

In early versions, Word as mail editor in Outlook wasn't very stable; this has improved with each version, and it now works pretty well in Outlook 2003. (As JohnBF wrote, you don't have a choice any more in Outlook 2007). With today's PCs, you probably won't notice any difference in performance.

A disadvantage of using Word as mail editor is that Word remains in memory as long as Outlook is active, so if you're troubleshooting something in Word, you should close Outlook so that Word can also be closed completely.

We are a small biz with 12 workstations running XP and Office 2003 (all latest SPs) but are very reluctant to start switching to Office 2007 and hope to avoid Vista for quite some time.

    Thanks again!

Great advice/warning. I will keep that in mind. I am an old programmer (back to COBOL and assembly on IBM 370 in college days of the 1970's) trying to learn a bit of VBA as we go along here. Need to automate so much more of our processes and forms at this biz using Office and the Unix-based line-of-business data (auto-generate Word & Excel files).

    Thanks again to all.

Then you should find much of interest in the Word, Excel, and VBA Forums here in the Lounge.
