    Mousewheel (2007)

I just installed Access 2007 (migrating from 2003) and the mousewheel now scrolls up/down within a record. I'd like to get it back to moving forwards/back BETWEEN records -- what used to be the default action in 2003.
    Thanks

It' s been sensible, on Microsoft's part, to take care of that, when before 2007 we had to resort to third party software to achieve that.

    I agree with you.

I think this is about the only "improvement" in Access 2007 that I like.

    Hi John,
Don't you like the new layout view for modifying forms and reports? I still don't have 2007 installed but it looks like it can save a ton of time compared to doing it in design view, turning to preview, going back to design view... <img src=/S/bullseye.gif border=0 alt=bullseye width=45 height=15>

    Re: Mousewheel (2007)

I made the mods in the article, but there are a couple of problems. Iím not sure if the result is the way itís supposed to work (and needs to be fine-tuned) or if I simply made an error in the process. Anyway, one thing I liked about the old (2003) event, was that it made it easy to copy data from field A in a record 1 to field A in a record 2. When I scrolled up or down a record, the field in which my cursor was located automatically had its contents selected. It was easy then to position my cursor, scroll back one record, copy the text to the clipboard, and scroll forward and paste the contents into the same field in the new record.

After entering the code in the article, scrolling in a form does move to a next record, but it doesnít automatically select the data in the field. Is there a way to have the scroll wheel movement do both of the previous actions?

Also, scrolling in a form moves to a different record Ė but it simultaneously scrolls down the form. Is there a separate command that needs to be changed so that the wheel only moves through the records and doesnít scroll up and down the form?

    Thanks for any help

Sorry I can't help any more with this, as I have not tried to implement this is 2007. I like it the way it is.

In 2003 I don't find that scrolling with the mouse automatically selects anything for copying either.

    Re: Mousewheel (2007)

If anyone else wants to use this feature, I found how to do it. Under Access Options go to Advanced. Under "Editing" the second choice is "Behavior entering field." The first radio button is "Select entire field." That's it.

Maybe this feature is peculiar to my specific needs, but I like it.
