How do I show doc name & path in menu bar (2003 SP2)

Edited by HansV to replace .zip attachment with cropped version of the picture it contained.

    Hi all,

In Excel, word, etc, it is possible to show the document name and path in the title bar by using Ctrl-Alt to drag & copy the doc path control from the web tool bar to next to the help line.
See the attached screenshot to see what I mean.

Now I use the feature a lot in those apps, but Visio does not seem to support the same control.

IS this just an example of how Vision is not the standard M$ Office offering, or is there a way using VBA or whatever to do the same in Visio

Re: How do I show doc name & path in menu bar (2003 SP2)

I do not have Visio 2003 anymore on my PC, but I do have FrontPage 2003. I notice that FrontPage does not have a web category in the Toolbar Commands tab. Without this category, I cannot get the Address command to add to my Menu Bar. So this is not possible in FrontPage 2003. Can you verify if Visio has a Web category, and if so, if the Address Command is available in the Web Category. If it is not, then it is not available in these MS Apps.
    Regards,
    Rudi

    Rudi,

Alas, the situation in Visio the same as FrontPage.
The web toolbar exists, however the Address command is not present.

It appears that microsoft has stymied me again!

Thanks for your time & help (Thanks to Hans for editing the image too)

    Hi Kieran

I have not used Visio for Eons and then it was only to trial it but I seem to remember that Alt and Spacebar displayed the Title Bar, as usual though I could be completely wrong

Re: How do I show doc name & path in menu bar (2003 SP2)

I just did a quick Google and found this, does this help?

Document Names: This subroutine will display the name of the current document and the current page.

    Public Sub DisplayDoc()
' Display the name of the current document and the current page

    Debug.Print ActiveDocument.Name
    Debug.Print ActivePage.Name
    End Sub

If not this page seems quite a good source of Visio code

That code has to be run explicitly, and it will display the document and page name in the Immediate window in the Visual Basic Editor, not in the menu bar in Visio itself.
