    SQL Table Links (Acc2003 / SQL 2005)

I previously had programmed an Access Front end to a Modeling program that is build on Microsoft SQL. We have switched vendors and their program is on based on Microsoft SQL Server 2005 (Enterprise). The problem that I now have is that the table keys (IDs) are GUID s with binary data types. When I link these table into Access the fields are not readable. I need to use these links to query various SQL tables to get various bits of data. I use ODBC to make the connection.

Have I run into a situation where Access will not work? Or are there some data types or conversions that I am not aware of.

    Thanks,

    Alan

You can use the StringFromGUID function in a query to convert the GUID values to a readable string.

(See for example No Records Are Displayed in a Subform That Is Based on a SQL Server Table)

Thanks, I will work on that.
