Unable to open Access database (2002)

    Hi All,

Just arrived at a client and got this encouraging message on one of thier machines:

"Microsoft Access cannot open this file.
This file is located outside your intranet or on an untrusted site. Microsoft Access will not open the file due to potential security problems.
To open the file, copy it to your computer or an accessible network location"

I found a couple of references here, but none seem to address how to resolve the issue.

I have tried the suggestions listed here: http://www.dbforums.com/showthread.php?t=1617898 and listed here: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=303650, both to no avail.

    Anyone, please???

    Does this help?
    - Right-click the database (.mdb)
    - Select Properties from the popup menu.
    - Click the Unblock button near the bottom of the dialog.
    - Click OK.

    Thanks.

I had seen that one too. The system does not have that option on the properties dialog unfortunately. Would that possibly be something that would be "added" if we install 2003 (I doubt it, but hey, this is MSFT <g>).

I've temporarily resolved it by pointing directly to the IP address instead of the mapped drive and adding the IP address location to the local intranet zone. Somehow however I cannot add the mapped drive to that same zone. &!^@^%^@$!#

That button (Unblock) is provided by Windows, not by Office, so installing Office 2003 wouldn't (or at least shouldn't) make a difference.
