    Wireless Printing

    Hi there,

I just recently purchased a new printer: a Dell color laser 1320c.

I will be using this printer with my laptop, which I use with a docking station.

I don't think the printer is wireless (is it?), but is there a way I can somehow still print to it when the laptop is not in the docking station? Thanks!

    I am running Vista Ultimate.

    Re: Wireless Printing

The specs indicate that the networking component is optional. Did you buy that as well? I am assuming that the 'network adaptor' is wired as the specs do not list it specifically as wireless.

If so, then you may be able to print to it if the printer via your router if the laptop has a wireless connection to the router and the printer is plugged into the router via Cat5 cable.

But if the printer connects to the docking station via a paralllel cable or USB cable, then the answer is no.

You could use a wireless print server, such as the Linksys WPS54G.

I believe all you need to do is hardwire it to the router.

Please accept my sincere apology for never having followed-up about this--and equal gratitude for everyone's help.

In any event, it appears that Dell's 1320c Network Adapter makes its Color Laser 1320c printer wireless.

    Re: Wireless Printing

Just to clarify, the printer isn't technically "wireless"--it's still plugged-in to the router, but the laptops can print to it without being plugged-in themselves.
