Firefox & Youtube error (Firefox 2)

Some extensions will block JavaScript. In particular, the NoScript extension. However, this is not something you would find accidentally installed on your computer. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

I do use NoScript, and Firebug, which provide additional insight into the issue. Apparently there was a recent design change, and the Flash player now is inserted by a script hosted on a server in the ytimg.com domain rather than the youtube.com domain. Once I allow scripts for ytimg.com in NoScript and reload the page, the movie starts.

If you don't use NoScript, your security software may require that you approve this domain, or you might have it blocked in your hosts file. If the domain is primarily used for advertising, then an ad-blocking extension might be blocking it.

Today I have been getting this message from Youtube when using Firefox.:
"You either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. "
JaveScript is on and Adobe Flash is up to date.
This message does not appear when using IE7.

I’ve searched the ‘Net and it seems to be a rather common problem but with no valid answer. Any suggestions?

Thank you, Jefferson for your speedy response.

After trying all sorts of options, I noticed a message from Firefox:"Additional plugins are required to display this page." I installed it (it was Adobe Flash) and all is well.

After seeing that message, a bulb went off & triggered a vague memory of reading that Adobe Flash needs to be updated on Firefox as well as IE. The properties of Adobe indicated, in Add/Remove programs, that it was version 9 so I didn't think anything further was called for.

I appreciate your being there.

Despite my initial feeling that all I had to do was to install the Adobe plug-in and all was well, it wasn't.

You were absolutely correct: allowing ytimg.com (and refreshing) is the answer.
