Windows Resouces

I have a 1.3 megahertz, with 513 megs of memory and still keep getting low resources in memory. Can any body tell me what the following files are in startup and can the computer run safely and comfortably without them. PC Health; Task monitor; MO search; still image monitor; and finally PowerReg SchedulerV2. Thanks, Jan

    Re: Windows Resouces

PC Health is a Windows ME component that is installed with the operating system. You can disable it. There is a patch at this website that is intended to restore DOS to WIndows ME, which you don't need, but you can also remove it completely. It will also allow you to remove System Restore if you are inclined to do so (which is not a good idea if you ask me).

Still Image Monitor is installed for scanner and digital camera support. It almost certainly is not causing you any problems.

PowerReg and MO search, I have no idea at all. Sorry. Most likely these were installed by some software that you added. You can try disabling them and see if there are any ill effects, and re-enable them if there are.

MO Search is probably Microsoft Office Fast Find under it's new name.

The following site lists programs related to startup resources and categorizes them according to needs, i.e., must have, can delete, may or may not delete:

I should have noted in my post that I found this site via a Dell chat room and that some of the items are unique to Dell.

Den. Thanks for that page. It and it's related links are worthwhile reading for all Windows 95,98 and ME users.
