vista removes printers from control panel daily (Vista)
We have a client who loses their printers every day. They have to reinstall them after booting every day.
2 PC's in peer to peer setup. One router in the middle which is netgear dg834. There are two printers. 1st printer is a HP photosmart 6180c which is set up TCP/IP port via the netgear router, it has a static IP which has been reserved on the router. The other is a epson c100 usb printer attached to the second PC. This printer is shared through a workgroup.
The 1st PC (the offending one) is a desktop and is vista. HPDX2300
The second PC is a acer laptop which is XP pro.
Both PCs are set up in the same workgroup.
The vista PC loses both printers every day after rebooting or booting up.
Warnings in the event log show that the printer will be removed.
User is an administrator and the user is able to reinstall the printer every day.
We are stuck. The 2nd XP pc does not lose its printers and is ok.
Does anyone have any ideas....

Can you tell us a bit more about these warnings. What is the Event ID, what is the detailed content of the entry.

Re: vista removes printers from control panel dail
Was the Vista installation a clean/new installation, or an upgrade over a previous operating system?Leif
