    Convert dates from Text (2003 - 2007)

    Hi

I have exported my calendar (Outlook 2007) to Excel. The dates have converted to the general format and appear as '1/1/2006. Because of the apostrophe Excel views this as text, so even changing the column to Date format isn't allowing me to sort by date (I get 1/1/2004, 1/1/2005, 1/2/2004). How can I get rid of the apostrophe to change it to date format? If I delete the apostrophe it changes to the correct format. There are 5000 records although manual deletion works is not practical. Find and replace doesn't find it either.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Michelle

    - Select a blank cell.
    - Copy it to the clipboard (Ctrl+C)
    - Select the column or columns with dates.
    - Select Edit | Paste Special...
    - Click the Add option.
    - Click OK.
    - With the column or columns still selected, select Format | Cells...
    - Apply a date format.
