    Pivot Grouping problem (Excel 2003)

I have a fairly large data base-and in a pivot table I'm trying to group 1100 items into one group. This is my 5th try. The PT just sits there calculating until I get the Not Responding message, when I have to crash it. Is that so many records to ask to group? There are 4 data fields involved. Why would this be so hard to do? TYIA

Without testing it myself it's hard to say what causes this, but you could add a calculated column to the data that returns the same value for the 1100 items that you want to group.
