Keep losing wireless connection

For some odd reason l keep having to reconnect my wireless connection as for some reason it is not connecting when l turn on the PC.
I have to go to Netgear smart wizard each time in order to get a connection. See screenshot for screen which apeears when l select net gear wizard.
Having to keep selecting this each time is becoming a nuiasance , any help would be appreciated.

Re: Keep losing wireless connection

Have you had a look at the newtwork tab, I have found that sometimes my neighbours routers get listed and have a stronger signal and hence take priority on the list. It looks like you have a strong signal but I have had a 80% signal and seen my neighbours knocking me off the top with 85%

I see you have obscured the SSID from the screen dump (no problems with that BTW) but I am just wondering if you are using the generic SSID name for your router and it may by coincidence be the same as someone nearby. I purposefully changed mine to a unique name.

The caveat of this is that some people sensibly do not broadcast their SSID so my ideas above may not be obvious.

Othe ideas are that you move location and see if that changes the problem. From experience the issue in my first paragraph has been the cause.

If you can change the channel of your router, do so.

That's an interesting point, why do you suggest that?

Your neighbor's router might be interupting your signal. If you change the channel that you broadcast, it won't confuse the signals.

Sorry, I'm using Linksys. You might try the Statistics tab or the help button.

Re: Keep losing wireless connection

You have to go into the Router Admin area via your browser

For you it will be http://192.168.0.2/start.htm

Enter the Admin and Password, for Netgear it is defaulted to Admin and Password

After that it is pretty obvious as there is a menu item in the left hand pane

Re: Keep losing wireless connection

It's located in the router not the setup wizard. Type in the IP address in the search area of your browser and you should get a setup window for the router itself.

It will be on the admin site not the setup wizard software.
