    Missing Hard Dive

I built a computer for work for a data migration project based on an Intel DX38BT motherboard that has 6 hard drives. All these drives show up in my BIOS if I press F2 when booting but only 5 appear in Windows Disk Management.

    Anybody know why?

Have all the drives been formatted to NTFS or FAT ???

    Thanks for the reply Doc.

Problem solved. Turns out that one of the drives is faulty. Not faulty enough to not identify itself to the BIOS but faulty enough to prevent Windows recognising it. Luckily my backup regime meant that no data was lost.

The drives, except the system drive, were all taken from a previous computer where they worked fine. I will reinstall the faulty drive back into the old computer and see if it works there. It shouldn't but you never know.

Glad you solved it. And you are correct about the drive possibly working fine when you put it back in it's original PC. Stranger things have happened. <img src=/S/yep.gif border=0 alt=yep width=15 height=15>
