    mpsigstub.exe

The last day or two ZoneAlarm (full updated paid version) has been giving me warnings several times/day that Antispyware Definition Update [mpas-fe.exe] is trying to lauch C:[ ]MPSIGSTUB.EXE. The "[ ]" part of the address is a gobblegook string of characters (probably hexadecimal) of varying length, e.g., 7B092D44BDECC3D0037C4595 or 06AC622F008939AFA9D3BD4AD3001D or 585C195A4FF886A14F.

I have been disallowing the routine to run. Is there any insight as to what might be happening?

    Thank you.

It is Windows Defender, using a folder with a randomly generated name in order to foil malware that tries to prevent security programs from updating.
You should give Windows Defender permission to update.
