    Downloading email (6 SP2)

Recently in order to download my mail, I have to go to Send/Recv to get them, and from there choose mail.comcast.net (default).
Not working any longer is the options of selecting: Send and Receive All: Receive All and Send All. At the bottom of the screen I see only 'Working Online'.
Some option is either set wrong or something not checked in Options. Is there something I can select to make the non-working selections work again?

All suggestions will be sincerely appreciated.

Well, well. For the first time since I began using Woody's, no one choose to assist me. But, that's OK, I fixed it myself, by correcting the Server Port Number from 25 to 587.

    I don't think anyone chose NOT to respond Gloria <img src=/S/nope.gif border=0 alt=nope width=15 height=15> . I would suppose that it was a matter of nobody knowing the answer to your question . <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>

The server port change should NOT have made any difference unless your ISP requires and then you should have seen this issue long before this!

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

It's hard to believe that with all this talent, that no one knew the answer. Even when that's true, I've seen replies that say 'I've never seen your problem before, perhaps someone else will have the answer (something along those lines). This time there was not one reply, my feelings are hurt.

    Re: Downloading email (6 SP2)

There could be a simple explanation for what happened. I've moved from Pa. to NJ and had to be setup again. The building I moved to had Viking Communications as there ISP, but Comcast bought them and connected the building to their wiring (I hope I've explained this correctly).

Everything had to redone, it took Comcast a week to complete the job and we had the tech out at least 4 times in one week. First I couldn't get on the web, then there was trouble with cable for the TV. Next Comcast cut the wires for my telephone service and installed theirs. That wouldn't have been so bad but it kept dropping signals and disconnecting in the middle of a conversation. Needless to say, I had them take their telephone service, than Verizon had to come out and string new wires so that I could use the telephone.

Finally when I called Comcast for the 5th time, I was informed that I had to change the port number in order to get my mail. Perhaps the switch from one cable company to another caused the change to be needed. I really don't care why it was needed, but I get my mail now.

Well, glory be, Gloria! MY feelings are hurt that YOUR feelings are hurt that none of US could help with that mess! From Viking to Comcast to Verizon, many days of agony and distress, a different state, a different building and multiple "calls" and support requests! Whew! I can't believe you really expected one of us to be able to handle all of that, like some kinda magic, huh?

No Al, I'm aware that that what it took to solve the issue is way out of the realm of the ability to fix the problem. At the time of my original post, I had no idea of what it would take to find a solution.

I just figured that someone could say what you just wrote, that no one can fix that sort of situation that is a member of the Lounge. Just an acknowledgment that my post had been read and considered would have been enough to salvage my hurt feelings. It was just that I had never been ignored before, but I got over it and my feelings have been restored, I still love all you guys and know that all of you care about my problems.
