    How to save DUN Password?

    Hi,

The DUN Dialogue Box password field is greyed out, so I cannot save it.
How can I change it back so saving is allowed?

    Thanks,

    m.q.

Check to make sure that the Client for Microsoft Networks is installed in Start => Settings => Control Panel => Network. If it's already installed, remove it, reboot, and re-install it....and then (ugh) reboot again. The ability to save your DUN password is tied to this feature.

Re: How to save DUN Password?

I've also found that setting the computer to allow "anonymous" logins will mess the password-saving up as well. At home I had changed our PC to allow anonymous login (using X-teq's X-Setup) since neither of us liked the idea of having to "log in" to the computer. It looked as though Windows, not having a "user" had no place to save the DUN password and disabled the option. As soon as the anonymous login option was disabled, the DUN password was able to be saved.

Re: How to save DUN Password?

Know this is an old post, but my DUN save password box suddenly was grayed out and the password was gone. Cannot tell what caused it, but I do know that I searched for files containing *.pwl and found 10 or so. I deleted all of them, restarted, and the save password was available again. AFTER completing another DUN, I checked again and there was only one file, the computer name with the extension pwl.

So, if this happens to anyone else, you might check for files beginning with your computer name followed by extension pwl. Don't know what the other pwl files pertained to, but too late now!

Thats a great tip Michael, I fortunately have not experienced this problem (yet) even with several different DUN setups on my machine, but I sure know others who have, will pass this along. <img src=/S/clapping.gif border=0 alt=clapping width=19 height=23>
