File view & window size (Vista-Home Premium)

I'd like to learn how to set window sizes so that they will remain in effect until/unless I change them. It seems that every time I re-start or log-on to my computer I have to change the window sizing to my liking.

The same goes for file viewing in Windows Explorer. I prefer the "Details" mode in most instances. However, after a re-start I have to change the setting again.

If you DRAG them to the size you want (NO Maximized button) they will be the same UNTIL a pop up comes along and is the LAST size that is exited. Another thing that may change the size, when you use a link from a email, document or etc and it has a size defined then that is your new size <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>.

This has been this way since IE 3.0 days.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Well, so much for being in control. I was hoping there was some keyboard combination, shortcut, or some other magiclike remedy for the window sizing issue. I did not understand your mention of UNTIL a pop-up comes along", however. Could you expound on that a bit?

Any suggestions on the file viewing mode in Windows Explorer question?

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond to my post.

Do you know what a "pop up" is?

    If not see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop-up_ad

I use a little freeware utility called IEWINSIZE

This works fine on IE 7 and Windows Explorer using XP. I don't know about Vista though.

Sure I do, when I'm using an internet browser, not, say, a Word document.

    Thanks,
