    .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 Won't Install (English)

I am using Win XP Home SP2. Windows update has been trying to install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 on a daily basis since 11/29/2007 every time I shut down my computer, and failing each time. Any suggestions on how to resolve this would be appreciated. Note: I know enough to be dangerous, so any solutions should be simple, if possible.
    Thanks...Jack

    Hello Hans...
Thanks for the pointer. I tried two of the simpler solutions, but the problem with installing the .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 still persists. There are several other solutions listed which I will try today...some of them look quite complicated to me, but I guess fools rush in, etc.

If you can't get it to work - do you really need the .Net framework? If not, you might consider completely uninstalling it.

Re: .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 Won't Install (English)

    Hello Hans...
I decided to take your advice and, using the Microsoft Windows Installer Utility, I removed .NET Framework 1.1 from my computer. Then, wondering what the heck I had just done, and not knowing whether or not I needed the thing, I reinstalled it. Then, Lo and behold!! the updates for Service Pack 1 and a Security patch were successfully installed.
    Thanks for the encouragement.
    Jack
