Syncing OL between computers (OL 2007)

    Howdy all,
After >10 yrs using Outlook, today's my first day trying to use it with exchange.
I use IMAP for my email, so don't need to sync email, but I want to be able to sync my calendar, contacts, tasks and notes etc. from the OST file on my work computer, to use on my home computers (also using OL2007) .
Until now, I've always just copied my pst file between computers via usb drives, but if i'm going to use the ost file, is there an automated means of syncing my ost folders with my pst file?
OR can i copy my ost file and open it at home without having exchange?
OR can i actually just make my pst file the default folder? Can people still see my calendar then?
thanks in advance for all advice.

OST files are locked to a mailbox on an Exchange server; I believe the password to the Exchange mailbox is stored in the registry.

You might be able to make your PST the main file in the account settings by changing the email delivery point from your Exchange mailbox to your PST. But I've never tried it.

Probably what I would do is look for software that will sync the relevant OST folders to a separate PST file you copy and take home. There might be past discussions of such software here. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

Yep, syncing to another pst is the best i've been able to think of. qsync appears to do that, but looks a bit clunky for the 44 euros being asked. I'll keep looking.
It seems to me that what I need is an imap equivalent for my contacts and calendar.
    Plaxo looks very tempting.
Anyone used it / able to recommend it?
I guess Google will start providing this service for free, soon after i pay for someone else's solution.
    Thanks

I'd be wary of Plaxo; check the configuration carefully. Some of the business-social-networking products email everyone in your address book that you've joined their network. I've received many such messages from Plaxo over the years.

    hmm. thanks.
I even subscribed, but as i looked at that "sync with outlook" button, I couldn't bring myself to send my diary and contact list across the world like that.
damn shame - 'cos it does exactly what I want, maybe i can setup my own secure version. :-(
Seems like a pda is now the simplest means of syncing my diaries. :-(
    Cheers,
