    Import Limitation (Access 2003)

I'm using a MS Access file for human resource records. It is 191MB, has 200 tables, 180 queries, 25 forms and 80 different reports.

Of recent, the data import capability has been limited. That is, everytime I try to Get External Data from any MS Excel file, it only imports 25 records from the file. I have been using the MS Access file for almost 2 years now. Have I reached its limit?

Do you get an error message? If so what does it say?

Oh, and have you compacted the database recently?

There is no error message. It only imports 25 records though no matter what MS Excel source I try.

I have not compacted the database ever. Should I?

Yes, you should. Make a backup copy first, to be on the safe side. Then open the database, and select Tools | Database Utilities | Compact and Repair Database. With such a large database, this my take a minute or more.

    Hans,
That worked like a charm. I have full import capability again. Thanks.
