Name AutoCorrect (A2K)

I just finished reviewing the MSDN list of known problems with 'Name AutoCorrect' in A2K.

1) Is it advisable just to turn the darn thing off -- even if SR-1 is installed?

2) If I develop with Name AutoCorrect on, on a machine with SR-1 installed, and then transfer an MDE to a machine without SR-1, could problems still occur?

TIA

FWIW one of the first things I do with any new database is turn off the Name Autocorrect, even though I have SR1a installed. Call me cynical.
As regards 2, I don't know but I don't think I'd take the risk.

Name AutoCorrect is turned off or on for each *database*, so if you turn it off and create an MDE, then it stays turned off for that MDE, regardless.

And yes, turn it off, even if you have SR1 installed. That didn't seem to cure all it's strangeness, and you don't need the bloat it creates. If you transfer a database to a non-SR1 machine, you'll probably run into problems anyhow (like the print settings). Turning off Name Autocorrect will at least eliminate one of them.

If I have been running with it on, is there any way to "clean out" my mdb after I turn it off? Or do I have to do the "import into a new db" number?

Thanks

Just turning it off and then compacting is all I can suggest. In extreme cases, do a decompile and then compact to squeeze maximum space out of the database.
