    Web-page displayed differently between FX2 and IE7

If you were to view this web page http://www.volunteeringcheltenham.org.uk in IE7 you would find that it displays correctly, whereas in Firefox 2 the 'subheadings" (shall I call them?) are offset significantly to the right.

Could some Knowledgeable Person kindly diagnose what the problem is purely from View Source, and proffer a correction which will work for both browsers - or would it be necessary to supply the CSS file(s)?

    Thanks!

PS The original website authors have no further interest in it...

Your banner image is floated, which causes the content below it to slide up into any available leftover space. Because there is no restraining container to force it to slide below the banner, it takes up residence alongside.

To force any element to clear ALL floats above it, use the clear property. In other words, change this:

    <code><div align="center" style="float:centre;"></code>

    to this:

    <code><div align="center" style="clear: both"></code>

Thank you, Sir! I shall pass this on to the person who now has the thankless task of maintaining this website...

Please note that unless the person who maintains the code can make it pass validation by using the W3C Markup Validation Service and the W3C CSS Validation Service they need to remove the two W3C logos from the bottom of the page. Using those logos on sites that fail validation is a breach of the terms and conditions of use. See W3C Logo and Icon Usage

It really doesn't do very well, does it! I'll pass on this comment...
