Download + Open/Save option (2002/sr2)

(Edited by acerfmayer on 16-Feb-08 17:44. I should have said downloaded a file from email.)
Afternoon -

After I download a file, edit it then save it, I often get "Do you want to revertÖ"

Iíve been trying to figure out if this is avoided by using either the Open or Save option during the download process. Which choice would create a duplicate copy being created Ė and therefore should be avoided. Iíve overcome this by renaming the file, but I do think I could avoid that step by choosing the correct option.

    Thank you very much.

Which e-mail client are you using?
Are the documents that cause problems attachments to an e-mail or do you download them from a hyperlink in an e-mail?

    Morning -

I use AOL (via their webmail, most often) and the downloads are attachments.

I associate that message with re-opening a document that is already open. A web browser's "open" option uses a temp folder that might be subject to unexpected updates or clean-ups. Try using the "Save" option consistently and see whether the behavior persists.

    Hi, Jefferson -

I did think that Open might involve a temp file. I shall pay more attention in choosing the Save, not Open, option.

I believe this problem occurs only with one client (who is on live.com).

    Thanks again,
    Acer
