ITunes

Have just installed iTunes on a PC rather than a Mac. So far, it is not retrieving album covers (Artwork) with imported CDs. How do get the program to do this automatically? "Get Info" just accesses My Pictures. Also, will Cover Flow work on a PC, or just on an iPod?

    Many thanks

(Edited by skitterbug on 17-Feb-08 11:49. Wanted to add a pic......)
I downloaded iTunes on my PC to see what might be the problem for you. If you go to the Advanced Menu and click on "Get Album Artwork", it will either do as you ask or it will give you a message saying basically that you either need an iTunes Store Account or if you already have one, you will need to sigh into the iTunes store. You will find this information under the "Store menu" item.

I hope this help? If not, of course post again! Someone else will probably have ideas to share!

PS: I meant to post a pic with this that I captured during installation of iTunes. I hope that it can be seen okay. It wasn't a very big dialog box.......but it did explain about the Album Artwork.

(Edited by JohnBF on 17-Feb-08 11:26. )
Also see if Edit | Preferences | General | "Automatically download missing album artwork" is checked.

Cover Flow is incorporated in iTunes v7+, under the View Menu as an alternative to List View or Album View (I don't use Cover Flow View, so cannot say more).

Thanks very much indeed for your help, John. This certainly solves the problem with relatively recent albums. However, iTunes does not seem to be capable of picking up artwork for older CDs (which is displayed by Windows Media Player straight off the CD).

Thanks John -certainly some of the older compilations will not necessarily match. I'll just have to be patient or copy the artwork in manually some time.

    Re: ITunes

Not necessarily old albums, looks like anything that doesn't match the album title and artist exactly, or that isn't on iTunes store. But also, give it some time, it may take a while to d/l the artwork and install it.

I'm pretty sure WMP is visiting the web in the background to get that artwork. Old audio CDs didn't usually include other types of content.

    Re: ITunes

That does seem to be the case in general, but WMP has certainly managed to provide some covers that iTunes cannot trace. Guess I'll just have to live with it short of perhaps scanning some of my actual CD covers.

Thanks for all your help and comments.
