If you right-click one of the picture placeholders, does the popup menu contain an option to show pictures?

I don't have Outlook 2007, and I'm out of ideas. I hope that someone else will be able to help you.

When you open the e-mail what type does it say in the heading - HTML, plain text? What folder is the e-mail in?

A lot of times the source has been, moved, deleted and can not be found. So in case it has been move or etc, then it can NOT be controlled by your machine.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

I don't get what could be going on if there is no link when he hovers on the red X. If it is an HTML e-mail there should be a link even if it is broken.

If this is not a "personal" or otherwise sensitive message, you could post the code here and we could take a peek to see whether there is something obviously wrong with the message itself. To extract the code, right-click the message body and choose View Source. This should open in Notepad. Save the file with a sensible name (e.g., Source.txt), and then, to avoid the Lounge software corrupting the HTML, zip it into a .zip archive. Depending on what Zip software you have, this usually is located somewhere on the right-click context menu for files you right-click in Windows Explorer or on your desktop. (For built-in Windows XP functionality, use Send to>Compressed Folder.)
