    Re: Mozilla (Firefox 2.0.0.12)

I'm not sure what you mean by attachments to links. Are these .url files? I don't use Thunderbird, so I don't know whether this is an intentional change. In MS Outlook, those attachments are hidden for security reasons and we have all been re-trained to put the link directly in the message body.

As for general Firefox diagnostics, one quick way to see whether it might be specific to your settings is to try a "clean" Firefox profile: Creating a new Firefox profile on Windows @ MozillaZine Knowledge Base. If that works, then one of your extensions may be at fault, or a bad setting, or ... well there are many possibilities. If the cure isn't obvious, you can move your bookmarks and (selectively) your other settings to the new profile: Migrating settings to a new profile @ MozillaZine Knowledge Base.

    Problems opening attachments/links (Firefox/TB)

Subject edited by HansV to help in future searches

Since I updated to version 2.0.0.12, I'm having trouble opening attachments ot links that arrive via Thunderbird. Both are set to Default browser and E mail client respectively. When I click a link or attachment the Firefox page comes up BLANK. Sometimes I am able to Copy & Paste OR Save As, to a Temp. Junk folder, and then most times they will open.
    Any suggestions much appreciated.
    Thank you.

WE tried all of the suggested Fixes. No joy. So uninstalled Firefox and then downloaded and reinstalled. Same problems: Whenever we click on a LINK in an Email Firefox opens and shows a tab UNTITLED and in the lower bar shows DONE, but nothing comes up on the Firefox window. To get into The Lounge I have to use IE.

You might try the MozillaZine Firefox Support forum and see if anyone there has heard of this problem.

    Re: Mozilla (Firefox 2.0.0.12)

Have just tried your suggestion regarding changing profile and when I go that route I get "Windows cannot find Firefox"
I know FireFox is in the system since we Uninstalled it and Re-installed 2.0.0.12 and the FireFox window does Open.
Why can't Windows FIND it so I can change profile??

<hr>when I go that route I get "Windows cannot find Firefox"<hr>
Is that when you click a link in email or when you start Firefox using its program icon on the desktop? The icon should work.

    Re: Mozilla (Firefox 2.0.0.12)

Re: your post 695,974 Creating a New Profile. We (beaudet & I) tried that route. The first step was to click Start - Run- firefox-p,
    c;ick OK.
The response we got was that Windows could not find firefox.
    So that ended that attempt.
There is no doubt that FireFox is in the system. Cross checked many ways BUT it will not OPEN any links.
In desperation we have had to change the Default Browser from FireFox to Internet Explorer, pending any other solutions to the problem.

    Thanx for your attention.

I can't recall how Windows finds the path to a program usually you can just enter Firefox and it runs automatically. However, it appears that something has come unglued in the configuration. Also, you could try the long version of the switch:

    <code>firefox.exe -ProfileManager</code>

    or

    <code>c:Program FilesMozilla Firefoxfirefox.exe -ProfileManager</code>

(Note, there is a space before the dash)
