    Pentium IV BIOS access

I've been fiddling with my daughter's rather old Pentium, wanting to access the BIOS. Over many attempts, I managed to get in by hitting DEL at the right time. Unable to repeat this feat, I decided that a controlled series of tests was in order. For each test, I powered up when the second hand hit the 12, then hit DEL X (~whole) seconds afterwards. For 1 <= X <= 30 I was unable to enter the BIOS setup! I can only conclude that there is a window of opportunity of less than a 1 second duration, somewhere in the boot process, that I've managed to fluke one time in about 50 attempts. Does anybody have any other ideas on how to access this delightfully elusive "feature"?

See if another keystroke (combination) works - more info in Access/Enter Motherboard BIOS. You can press the key several times in quick succession after booting.

Thanks Hans. The only reference to Intel on that site is "Intel® Tangent -> DEL". So I tried F1 and it worked! I think I'm getting the hang of it now. <img src=/S/crossfingers.gif border=0 alt=crossfingers width=17 height=16> Perhaps I should have been a cryptanalyst?
