    Raid Array

    Hello Guru's, <img src=/S/angel.gif border=0 alt=angel width=15 height=21> I would like to ask for some info for a not to pressing job I want to do to my Machine. <img src=/S/bash.gif border=0 alt=bash width=35 height=39>
I want to split my two drives and make them separate, to be able to install XP on one and Vista on the other.
Not worried about back-ups I have an external hard drive for that purpose. What do I have to do to the mother board or Bios or both to achieve this whimsy? Intel® 82801G (ICH7 Family) Ultra ATA Storage Controllers - 27DF, Intel® 82801GR/GH SATA RAID Controller, 4 GIGS Memory, 3.20 gigahertz Intel Pentium D155.01
    Any link or tutorial would be appreciated. <img src=/S/thankyou.gif border=0 alt=thankyou width=40 height=15>

    Re: Raid Array

If you are using 2 internal drives, then you can boot to either drive and the installed OS on that drive will be your OS. To get to the boot menu you will need to hit the F8 key while booting to get the screen to come up.

Another option is to use a boot manager and I'd recommend Acronis Disk Director, although I don't use it myself, based on other Lounger's recommendations and Acronis reputation for quality software that works as advertised. HTH.

BTW - What you are trying to do is not a Raid Array.

If you already have XP installed, to make a dual boot setup along with Vista is a snap, using the Vista install disk. it will guide you right along on how to do it.

There is a decent tutorial HERE along with screenshots.

You can also Google dual booting and there are any number of sites listed along with a few different methods, such as, if you already have Vista installed and want to add XP.

There is also a utility available HERE

Helps you with Dual Boot in either direction, XP first or Vista first.

    Re: Raid Array

I think maybe I didn't explain myself correctly. First off thanks for the reading material and info. The one about system restore really makes me think I'll have to read some more!
But here is what I want to do, I have two hard drives and I want to be able to see them both and use them for storage etc. Right now they are set up in raid mirror. What steps can I make to make them say C: & D: drives.
    Thanks again for all your help, sorry I didn't answer sooner. <img src=/S/angel.gif border=0 alt=angel width=15 height=21>
