Netscape support termination (netscape - all )

Just a reminder to anyone who is using Netscape that as of March 1,2008 AOL is terminating support of Netscape. See End of Support for Netscape web browsers - The Netscape Blog for the complete announcement. You should migrate to another browser ASAP.

They released the final security update yesterday, Netscape Navigator 9.0.0.6, which brings it in line with Firefox 2.0.0.12

One option is to use Firefox instead of Navigator. If you do that you can copy all of your Navigator profile date into Firefox, for details see Importing from Netscape

Hey fellas, I must be dense or something, but WHY is anyone still using Netscape anyway? Is there something wonderful about Netscape that Firefox can't do or what? Sorry for being so naive.

Maybe inertia or a possible lack of knowledge about how to migrate bookmarks, & addons to a new browser. I know there are still a few people using it and just thought they ought to be aware of the situation.

Sorry if I didn't word that too well, Joe. I meant no offense to anyone. I just wonder every once in awhile why...

No offense taken Al. Sometimes I wonder too but then my better half reminds me that not eveyone is as up on technology as I am (or at least pretend to be ).

WHY is anyone still using Netscape anyway?

I assume we are talking about modern incarnations of Netscape, and not the old version 4 series... In recent years, the Netscape browser integrated both the Gecko (Mozilla) rendering engine and the IE rendering engine, and offered a more beginner friendly UI than Firefox (or so many people have said). Also, it has a famous name.
