    Ask Woody

I'm getting this error when I try to go to www.askwoody.com.
    <hr>Warning: mysql_pconnect() [function.mysql-pconnect]: Too many connections in /home2/woody/public_html/includes/config.php on line 8
    Too many connections<hr>
I'm greatly relieved that is hasn't effected the lounge. I didn't know where else to put this so please move this post if it's in the wrong spot.

    Re: Ask Woody

I get the same error at the moment. I'd wait a bit and see if you can get in later.

AskWoody runs on a completely different server than Woody's Lounge, so an outage on one of them has no influence on the other one.

    Re: Ask Woody

All people involved in Woody's Lounge, including the WMVPs, Moderators and Administators, are non-paid volunteers.
Operating costs are very low - the only thing we have to pay is hosting the server, and that's quite cheap.

    Hans

When I clicked your AskWoody link above AVG reported the attached threat.

Is this AVG being paranoid or is there something odd going on?

    Regards

    Re: Ask Woody

It seems unlikely that Woody would have a virus on his website, although I can't exclude the possibility. My security programs don't raise any objections though. A quick Google search indicates that it might be a false positive detection by AVG.

There appears to be an alien script at the bottom of the home page. I reported it through the Contact link. Meanwhile, suggest avoiding the home page. You can enter the site here: http://www.askwoody.com/viewnews.php -- that page appears to be clean.

    Re: Ask Woody

    Daisy -

AskWoody is a low budget site (see the response below) that I basically pay for out of my own pocket - although the Google ads help a little bit. I don't have a lot of bandwidth, and run out of open connections at times.

    I hope to improve both AskWoody.com and KhunWoody.com (that's one you've probably never seen <img src=/S/wink.gif border=0 alt=wink width=15 height=15> ) before the end of the year....

I've been working on a "retreat" here in Phuket, and will post more info about it on KhunWoody.com as soon as I've figured out how to put it all together in meatspace.

    Re: Ask Woody

There's a nice mention of the Lounge on KhunWoody.com - but absolutely no link or indication of how to find it.
Is that to weed out the truly helpless hapless? <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15>

    Ohmigod.

I'll add that to the (lengthy) list of changes needed....

    Re: Ask Woody

There's a script at the bottom of the HTML source for AskWoody.com that tries to insert a hidden iframe referring to a Chinese website. See the zipped attachment.

I can't answer that question, however, I *can* say that AskWoody is part of my "Daily Dose" and has been coming up trumps on a daily basis for about a year, regular as clockwork, with no problems.
(Hooray for Firefox and "open all in tabs"!)
I will, of course, keep an eye on the new site on a daily basis (grin!)
