Axis Labels On Chart (Excel 2003)

I have a chart that is made up of years (X axis) and negatives numbers (Y axis). Excel wants to put the X axis labels on the TOP of the chart, with the lines going down. The lines are fine, but how can we get the X axis labels on the bottom??

    Thanks!

    Dbl-click on the X-Axis
    Format (tab)
In the "Tick Mark Label" option buttons press "Low"

[The default is to put it "next to the Axis" (which is zero, and thus above the negative numbers]

They still print at the TOP of the chart, though they aren't in the body of it anymore. And maybe that's what happens unless we put in manual text box labels.

    Thanks!

They shouldn't. Could you attach an example, maybe we are talking about different things...
