    Expression builder (Access 2003)

I am trying to use the expression builder. this is what i have in the field of my query in design view. Paid Month: if([Master table]![frequency] ="qtr",[Master Date]![qtr],0). I must be missing something because i get the following error: "if([master table]... is not a valid naem. Make sure that it does not include invalid characters or punctuation and that it is not too long." Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Access doesn't use if in expressions, it uses the iif (immediate if) function instead.
