auto numbering and track changes (2003)

I have a document that has track changes in it. When I click to accept all changes the changes to the autonumbering don't accept. Any ideas how to get the autonumber to show the correct number instead of the old as striked out and the new as inserted? Thanks

That's strange - I cannot reproduce the problem. Could you attach a small sample document that exhibits this behavior (the text can be replaced with dummy text)?

I've attached a doc showing the problem. It does the same thing in Word 2000 and doesn't appear to be related to sytles so I'm stumped. Thanks for your help

OK, I see the problem. I'll have to investigate...

If you turn off change tracking then you can accept all changes in this document.

Re: auto numbering and track changes (2003)

When I turn off track changes from the bottom of the screen and use the toolbar button to navigate to the next change in the document, I get a message that no tracked changes or comments are in the document. When I turn TRK back on, the tracked changes are still there

After turning off Track Changes, you should click the little dropdown arrow on the right hand side of the "Accept Change" button (the one with the blue check mark). Select "Accept all Changes in Document" from the dropdown menu (shown in StuartR's screenshot).

You can turn off track changes by double-clicking the Trk at the bottom of your Word window, or from Tools > Track Changes

You can accept all changes by using the drop down arrow on the Reviewing Toolbar.

I tried that as well, but the changes don't get accepted

Hmm. It works for StuartR in Word 2003 and for me in Word 2002. No idea why it wouldn't work for you...
